The fact about Bill C-11 Canadians are being lied to about

We don’t have equal, affordable access to the internet to begin with.

Why can’t Canadians compete on streaming platforms to promote “Canadian Content”?

… most Canadians can’t afford to do what me and other creators do. It costs hundreds to thousands of dollars a month to even get our foot in the door. We sacrifice so we can stream. And we do pay taxes on our websites and channels.  The government wants to take away free speech.

Bill C-11 wants to limit the internet, for people who have already paid taxes on the service, taxes on hardware to access it with expensive plans WE PAY TAXES ON!!!

Not everyone here lives in cities and even has stable enough phone lines and towers to have the data required to be on YouTube as a consumer or a creator.  We pay taxes on subscription services like Netflix and Disney +. I pay taxes on every donation I make to other YouTube channels.

We will spend over a billion dollars to limit consumers access to media because the government doesn’t think they are getting enough taxes. Meanwhile they ignore the basic infrastructure to even provide basic services.

“Canada ranks as the 21st in the world for Internet usage with 31.77 million users as of July 2016 (est), making up 89.8% of the population. According to Harvard researchers, Canada has some of the lowest internet standards among OECD countries, as a result of high costs and slow internet speeds”  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_Canada&ved=2ahUKEwi0-q_M1MH4AhWaKkQIHftBCfkQFnoECCoQBQ&usg=AOvVaw3Iu_-6mh9BwCcgnggdZjCy

Online penetration among individuals in Canada has increased over the past reported periods, with nearly 91 percent of the population accessing the internet in 2019 and 94 percent in 2020Online penetration among individuals in Canada has increased over the past reported periods, with nearly 91 percent of the population accessing the internet in 2019 and 94 percent in 2020…  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.statista.com/statistics/209104/number-of-internet-users-per-100-inhabitants-in-canada-since-2000/&ved=2ahUKEwi0-q_M1MH4AhWaKkQIHftBCfkQFnoECCUQBQ&usg=AOvVaw1oa5uM5sxMJohzaCI4uMkj

Most Canadians access the internet thru mobile or cable. Cable has limited access to rural communities. Phone services give limited data and we still piggy back off American towers. Satellite systems are even twice as much.

In the United States all television stations must have digital access. You can be given an adapter FOR FREE to use with a digital adapter. Canadians were supposed to be given this same access but our television stations are not upgraded enough for access. I live 6 blocks from the local station and I can only get it half the time with the antenna on my balcony. Out of the channels I can get, only 2 are Canadian and I can’t get them in clear.

I know so many families that have a computer but can’t the data for the zoom classes.  Or had sit in fast food parking lots in the middle of winter Wi-Fi just to graduate, just to keep up.  Kids are falling behind and the House feels entitled enough to ignore theses families whose numbers are growing.  Every child matters? Hardly with this government.

Until we ALL can afford to be on the internet and still pay for food this bill is unethical. Invest in things that will build our country up. Wanna talk Canadian content? Make it equal, affordable and let everyone play.
